Your Stoic Tarot Reading for Monday, October 14, 2024
Greetings and thank you for joining me for today’s tarot reading. The theme for today is “Finding Balance and Nurturing Growth”.
Our first card is the Ten of Wands. This card often signifies burdens, responsibilities, and stress. But there’s a deeper message in this weighty card. Like the bent traveler under his load, we are often surrounded by pressures that challenge us. But as the Stoic philosopher Epictetus once said,
“It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”
Consider where in your life you might be voluntarily shouldering immense burdens. Know that it’s okay to set down this load if it’s causing you harm. Our burdens become our growth, but they must also be manageable—a lesson delicately depicted by the Ten of Wands.
Next, we welcome the Queen of Cups. This queen embodies compassion, nurturing, and emotional stability. She reminds you to care not only for others but also for yourself. Like this queen, strive to heed the advice of Stoic philosopher Seneca:
“As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.”
Look inward, attend to your emotions, and don’t forget to nourish your inner soul as well. For the stoic, it isn’t about suppressing emotions, but understanding them—a sentiment exquisitely symbolized by the Queen of Cups.
Finally, we have the Ten of Pentacles. This card is a beautiful signal of wealth, legacy, and establishment. This doesn’t just pertain to physical wealth; it represents all forms of abundance—knowledge, wisdom, love, and spiritual insight. Think about your life’s bounty and be grateful for it. Latter-day stoic, Marcus Aurelius, offered this valuable insight:
“When you arise in the morning think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
Be wise in how you invest and share these riches, exercising gratitude, generosity, and stoic tranquility. The Ten of Pentacles doesn’t promise fleeting riches, but enduring wealth of spirit and character.
Today’s reading emphasizes the importance of manageable burdens, self-nurturing, and acknowledging abundance in life. Take your burdens as they come, care for yourself, and cherish the abundance you have honed.
