Tarot Reading for Thursday, May 30, 2024: Success, Nurture & Burdens
Good day gentle seekers. Today, we delve into the significant teachings intertwined in the Six of Wands, The Empress, and Ten of Wands. We embark on a journey filled with stoic wisdom, mindful action, and contemplative reflection.
Our journey begins with the triumphant Six of Wands. This card is often seen as an ambassador of victory. It signifies success, achievement, and public recognition. Yet, as we stoics like to remind ourselves:
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.” - Albert Schweitzer
The Six of Wands invites us to examine our victories not as the pinnacle of our journey, but as milestones that further authenticate our path. The card encourages us to acknowledge our accomplishments, but not let them define our worth. Remember, your value isn’t determined by your victories, but by the virtues that win you these victories.
Moving on to our second card, we encounter the abundant and nurturing energy of The Empress. Generally, The Empress echoes themes of fertility, abundance, and the power of the feminine. From a stoic perspective, I’m drawn to the notion that:
“Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” - Epictetus
The Empress asks you not to interpret wealth purely in terms of material possessions. By reminding us to cultivate an inner sense of fulfillment, she accentuates the importance of nurturing our spiritual growth and emotional needs. Seek riches not from the world, but from within.
Our final card for today, the Ten of Wands, deals with burdens, responsibilities, and struggle. The card’s message is unmistakable: that sometimes, we carry more weight than we need to. As Seneca makes clear:
“He who is brave is free.” - Seneca
Burdens are often the obligations we impose on ourselves. The Ten of Wands urges us to let go of the loads we don’t need to bear. Unshackle from your self-imposed burdens. It encourages you to muster the bravery to set yourself free from unnecessary weights and obligations.
Looking at the bigger picture, these cards invite you to approach life with a deep sense of self-awareness and inner balance. Celebrate your victories (Six of Wands), nurture your inner riches (The Empress), and unburden yourself (Ten of Wands).
Journaling Prompt: Reflect on the victories you’ve had recently. What virtues have they revealed in you? Consider the ways in which you have nurtured your inner growth and spiritual fulfillment. What burdens are you carrying that you can let go of?
Walk courageously towards your self-discovery, dear seekers, for therein lies your freedom.
