The Stoic’s Guide to Tarot: Daily Reading for Saturday, March 16th, 2024.
Greetings, dear seekers of wisdom. Our theme today shall be Pausing, Intuition, and Action and it comes to us through the Seven of Pentacles, The Moon, and the Knight of Wands.
Our first card, the Seven of Pentacles asks us to pause and reflect. In classical imagery, this card shows a man taking a break from his labor to admire the fruits of his work. The seven pentacles hanging from the tree represent the work he’s already accomplished, while the pentacle in his hand stands for present efforts. As stoics, we should consider the words of Seneca, who said,
“No man is poor who does not think himself so. But if in a full fortune with impatience he desires more, he proclaims his wants and his beggarly condition.”
Pause and reflect on what you’ve already accomplished. Find satisfaction in your current progress, then use this reflection to guide your future actions.
Our guiding light in the darkness, the Moon takes us on our next step. It’s a symbol of intuition and emotions. Pay attention to what your inner self is trying to communicate. It makes us think of the Roman Emperor and stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius when he said,
“Nowhere can man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul.”
Discover the insights hidden in the shadows of your mind. Don’t be scared of your own depths; instead, explore and embrace them. The moon is illuminating the path, showing you that your intuition can guide your journey.
And lastly, the Knight of Wands is our call to action. He’s charismatic, adventurous, and always ready to sprint into action. The Knight reminds us of Epictetus’s potent advice,
“First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.”
Take calculated risks. Be bold in your endeavours. After contemplating the Seven of Pentacles and heeding the wisdom of The Moon, embark on your journey with the enthusiasm of the Knight of Wands. Eagerly accept challenges with faith in your own abilities.
We invite you to contemplate on today’s collaborative theme—pausing, intuition, and action, and journal your thoughts. How are you harnessing past accomplishments, your intuition, and your readiness for action, in your life? How are you balancing the act of taking action and taking a moment to cave inwards and listen to your own thoughts?
Today’s self-reflection prompt is: “In what areas of my life can I acknowledge my past efforts, better listen to my intuition, and take more considered actions?”
Until our next reading, may you continually find wisdom in the cards, wisdom in the self, and the wisdom of the stoics.
