Tarot Reading - Thursday, February 29th, 2024
Oh, such a stirring and intriguing spread this day brings us!
The Two of Wands greets us first. The holder of this presence often stands on a castle, looking out towards the expansive world ahead. There’s a glimmer of anticipation, as if awaiting an upcoming journey or new projects. It suggests personal power and forward momentum. However, we ought not to rush headlong into this journey. Stoic philosopher Epictetus once said,
“No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. “
Remember to plan and prepare. The world is at your fingertips but not to be grasped at greedily. Patient preparation is the path to sustainable success.
We next uncover the Four of Cups. Traditionally, this card depicts a young man sitting under a tree, contemplating as three cups sit before him and a fourth being offered to him from a cloud. It could be argued this card showcases dissatisfaction, a feeling of apathy, or even missed opportunities. But in our contemporary Stoic understanding, I ask you to ponder this:
“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality,” said Seneca.
Are we not all guilty of ignoring the marvels before us, lost in our daydreams of what could be? Return your regard to the now, for within the present moment lies the remedy to apathy.
Finally, a fruitful ending with the Ace of Pentacles. Imbued with manifestations of wealth, abundance, and solid beginnings, this card trumps the spread as an auspicious symbol. A hand erupts jovially from a cloud, proffering a large coin. However, an abundance of material wealth isn’t the only meaning we can glean from this card. Marcus Aurelius reminds us,
“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”
The Ace of Pentacles signifies the fertile ground for potential beginnings, not just material ones. This could be the seed for fresh ideas, a new chapter in your life, or a decisive point to change habits.
What a remarkable trio to meditate upon! Your journey, your present, your fresh start, all orbiting around Stoic teachings.
To culminate this learning, I propose the following for your personal reflections: “What new beginnings are sprouting in your life right now? How can you ensure your present reality feeds these beginnings and your journey? Reflect deeply and journal your thoughts.”
Until our next reading, I wish you patient marching, present mindfulness, and bountiful beginnings.
