Your Tarot Reading for Saturday, February 24th, 2024
Welcome my dear students of the stoic arts, today we delve into the meanings and lessons behind the Eight of Cups, the Three of Pentacles, and the Ace of Pentacles.
Starting with the Eight of Cups, traditionally interpreted as emotional disillusionment, walking away, or personal transition. It can be scary to embark on new quests, especially if it involves letting go of the known. Remember the words of Seneca, “It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.” In the context of the Eight of Cups, courage to make a challenging change may bring an immense reward.
Continuing onto our next card, the Three of Pentacles, traditionally seen as collaboration, learning, and the initial accomplishment. The stoics profoundly understood the importance of our interconnectedness. As Marcus Aurelius proclaimed, “We are born for cooperation, as are the feet, the hands, the eyelids, and the upper and lower jaws.” There is much to be learned and achieved by welcoming different perspectives and working together. You are not alone in your journey.
Finally, we have the Ace of Pentacles, representing new financial or material opportunities and prosperity. The Stoics would remind us that while these material gains can be sources of comfort and pleasure, the true value lies in our virtuous actions, not the rewards they bring. Recall the words of Epictetus, “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.”
In summary, today’s tarot reading speaks of transformation (Eight of Cups), rewarded collaboration (Three of Pentacles), and impending prosperity (Ace of Pentacles). A stoic embrace of these events or possibilities would entail courageous pursuit of growth, harmonious teamwork, and a measured perspective on gains.
Prompt for Journaling: Reflect upon a recent change or transformation you’ve experienced. How have you grown or learned from it? Consider your role within your community or team—is there room for more collaboration? Finally, reflect on your relationship with material gains. Do they drive you, or are they mere passengers on the journey to a rich, virtuous life?
