Tarot Reading for Tuesday, February 20th, 2024

Our theme today gravitates towards accomplishment, nurturing, and creative expression as we journey through the symbology of three insightful tarot cards; the Six of Wands, The Empress, and The Magician.

Beginning with the Six of Wands, we stumble upon a rewarding scene of victory, appreciation, and accomplishment right out of the gate. In the classic Rider-Waite deck, this card depicts a figure riding a horse, wreath in one hand, wand in the other, while an eager crowd celebrates his victorious return. Here we are welcomed by the stoic sentiment which states “The greatest victory is over self.” We are urged to realize the tremendous power in acknowledging our successes. It is not egotistical to celebrate when we overcome an obstacle or reach a goal, it’s merely recognition of determined effort. Take time today to honour something you’ve achieved lately.

Then we have the warm, matriarchal energy of The Empress. Classic tarot interpretations suggest a figure rich in compassion, creativity, and nurturing— a mother to the world’s energy. She reclines in nature, symbolizing the inherent creativity present in our universe. As stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius once pondered, “The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it.” Embodied by the Empress, we remember that we are continuously shaping our world through our thoughts and actions. Today, veer towards kindness, understanding, and compassion. See where it leads. Nurture the world around you as the Empress would.

Our last guide for the day is The Magician. In the traditional tarot imagery, he is seen raising one hand towards the universe and pointing the other towards the earth— bridging heaven and earth in a silent affirmation of his creative power. In his domain, all the tools of the tarot suits are present, symbolizing the possibility available when we harness our unique skills and intentions. Seneca’s stoic wisdom echos this concept, stating “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” The Magician imbues us with a reminder: We possess innate creativity and our potential is limitless; we simply need to find our focus and apply our unique talents.

And so, what do these cards beckon from us? Acknowledge and celebrate personal victories with the Six of Wands. Show compassion and nurture the world around you like The Empress. Utilize your talents, be creative, and take rational action with the energy of The Magician. Victory, nurturing, creativity—it’s all accessible to us.
