A Middle-Eastern family expressing joy near a rainbow, with ten cups brimming with abundance floating in the sky, mirroring the contentment and fulfillment represented by the Ten of Cups tarot card. The rainbow and family should have a magical, hand-sketched appearance that aligns with the traditional tarot aesthetic. The background paints a picture of vibrancy with a tranquil river passing by, an emblem of emotional flow and tranquility.

Daily Tarot Reflection: Tuesday, December 19th, 2023

Greetings, dear seekers! Our tarot guidance today is woven around the themes of joy, victory, and ever-changing life’s wheel. Let’s seek wisdom from the Three Card Spread comprising the Ten of Cups, Six of Wands, and Wheel of Fortune.

Our first card, the Ten of Cups, depicts the pinnacle of emotional fulfillment and harmony. Its classical imagery reminds us of a flourishing family representing unity, love, and contentment; an ideal we all seek. What does it mean for us on a spiritual level, you ask? It reiterates the Stoic idea of ‘Amor Fati,’ a love of fate, an acceptance of things as they are. Accepting our situation, the ups and downs, can lead to a profound contentment that extends beyond simple hedonistic pleasure. Indeed as Seneca reminds us, “True happiness is to enjoy the present…secure within oneself”.

Our second guiding star today, the Six of Wands, embodies success and public recognition. Its rider radiantly wears a crown of laurels, symbolizing victory achieved through perseverance. In the light of stoic philosophy, however, we should not get carried away by external validation. Remember what Marcus Aurelius said, “It is in your power to withdraw yourself whenever you desire.” Triumph is not in the applause, but in the striving.

Lastly, we have the Wheel of Fortune, a card embodying change, cycles, and destiny. This card challenges us to understand that life is in a constant state of flux, nothing is permanent. Remembering this, we can find serenity, whether we are at the top of the life’s wheel or at the bottom. Embrace Epictetus’s words, “Don’t seek for everything to happen as you wish it would, but rather wish that everything happens as it actually will—then your life will flow well.”

Three cards, three profound teachings for us: practice ‘Amor Fati’ to achieve deep-seated harmony, reframe success as an inward victory, and accept the natural ebb and flow of life.

Here’s your thought for journaling today: How can I embody stoic acceptance in my daily life? What can I do to redefine success in my own terms and welcome change as an integral part of life’s journey?
