Sunday December 17, 2023 - Awakening and Celebration - Daily Tarot Reading
The Judgement card is a call for introspection, to scrutinise your past decisions and actions. In the stoic vein, Marcus Aurelius once said, “Every morning when you wake up, tell yourself: The people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, and surly.” This is not cynicism, but a call to reclaim control over our judgement. You are not defined by your past, but by how you judge it. With the Judgement card, reflect and learn from your past and remind yourself not to be affected by the judgment of others so much so that it affects your quest for self-improvement.
In the second position, we find the Four of Wands. This card represents celebration, harmony, and prosperity. It’s a reminder to take time to enjoy the fruits of your labors and cherish the joy of your accomplishments. It resonates perfectly with a stoic sentiment expressed by Seneca: “True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.” Appreciate the now, the people who are with you, and the achievements you have, no matter how big or small.
Finally, we have the Nine of Cups - the card of dreams come true. Filled with a sense of abundance and personal satisfaction, this card carries an air of successful fruition of your goals and desires. Remember however, the wisdom of Epictetus who said, “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” Satisfaction and happiness come from within, from understanding and managing our desires, not from the attainment of worldly possessions.
This Sunday, your cards stand together as a tale of personal growth and contentment. You are encouraged to reflect on your past with grace, celebrate your present achievements, and maintain control over your desires. Do not judge yourself harshly based on past actions, instead, use this knowledge to better yourself. Celebrate the joy of ‘now’ and try not to get swamped with what will come next.
Journaling Prompt
Reflect on the last year. Jot down your key accomplishments and moments of personal growth. What have you learned from your past? What brings you immediate joy and contentment today? Identify moments where you truly felt your dreams come true. Finally, consider, what unwieldy desires could you afford to let go of to make space for more immediate joy and peace in your life?
